Hello!
I’m Alex Demers, a passionate, and eager college graduate who loves to design, develop, and test games and game-focused applications.
Want to reach out to me? Send me a message at admers145@live.ca or alternatively visit my blog to see what I’m working on.
BACKGROUND
I’m a recent college graduate, currently based in Barrie, ON Canada but willing to relocate. I have experience in a wide variety of technologies from Unity and Unreal engine to C#, C++ and ASP.Net. I worked for a custom software company developing solutions for clients before deciding life’s too short and going back to school for game development. I graduated from Toronto Film School with Distinction and Honors and received a Diploma in both Video Game Design and Development and Computer Programing at Georgian College. I have commercial game development experience.
Since graduating I have rekindled my passion for programming in the form of game development. There’s nothing more refreshing than designing and developing interactive experiences that can be enjoyed globally by a wide range of different audiences. I have professional experience through publishing my game Star Shooter to the mobile store and am currently working on a variety of personnel projects as I look for work in the Game Industry.
If I’m not working on Game Development I’m researching new technologies, working on a volunteer project or playing D&D or video games with friends.
I’m always on the lookout for new technologies to work with, and interesting projects to work on, so if you think I’d be a good fit, please do not hesitate to reach out.
FEATURED PROJECTS
A short collection of clips of games I’ve worked on arranged into a 1 minute video.
Star Shooter is a fully published mobile game on the Google Play store. Originally conceived as a way to test my skills in programming and a way to pass the time. Eventually, I decided to take it to production to get more robust experience of the Concept to Production life cycle of a game.
The Capstone project we worked on as a team of students in our last term of college. I programmed the character controller. I also programmed the UI elements after I graduated and fixed up a few bugs.
I started developing this as a school project. It’s a classic trick-taking game. I programed the entire game by myself from scratch.
A remake of the game Gun.Smoke from the NES. I developed this as a school project in my 2nd semester. After the assignment was over I ended up continuing work on it every now and then. The boss fight remains unfinished due to moving on to more difficult projects as well as a bit of technical debt from my earlier years of Unity.
